paintedman asked: Well.. my preferences are living in known cities like: Stgo, Valpo, VinaDMar. Those three sound the most appealing. I am willing to go to school and work in Chile. Are jobs difficult to find there? I know for a fact that the USD$ is very strong Chile, is it hard to make a lot of money to pay expenses in Chile: food, rent, etc. I know these questions are vague.. But you have a better idea than I, just an estimation is perfect. Also, do gringo's get treated fairly in Chile? I mean you must have personal experiences. LOL.
Thank you so much for trying to help.
PS I love your blog it's full of the beauty of South America :)
Santiago and Vina can be expensive. I’m not sure about Jobs. The US dollar used to be real strong but has been falling over the last year. You can live pretty cheap if you are smart with your money and rent can be very cheap depending on your apartment. Food and clothes cost the same as in the US if not more, electronics cost roughly double. Gringos are treated pretty well, but not very many speak english here. In my opinion the lakes district of chile is by far the most beatiful, cities like Pucon, Valdivia, Puerto Varas. It might be hard to find a job there though. Santiago y Vina are like bubbles in chile and dont reflect what life throughout Chile is really like. there is a website called expats in chile or something like that, people there could probably answer your quetions alot better than I. Good luck.
